In this gentle, calm slow paced class the focus is on Posture Deconstruction, a format where we look at a few related yoga postures (asanas) explore and improve our movements required to “be in asana” or “sitting in comfort”. Form follows function, when our body moves as it’s designed to move yoga postures become more accessible.
You will be guided through a mixture of restorative poses, fascial release work, somatic and therapeutic exercises, classic asana (posture) and a deeply relaxing shavasana. Build stability, release tension, and gain mobility for a balanced body, mind and spirit. Great for students with a few “issues”
I have been attending Karen’s Awareness in Asana yoga class for a while now after attending other yoga classes for years. What keeps me coming back to Karen’s class, is that she teaches you through yoga how to improve how your body functions. With Karen’s careful guidance and expertise you learn how to strengthen and improve how your body moves especially if you have ongoing issues. The classes are geared to developing and “waking up” muscles to work properly rather than continue to make compensations that lead to developing further issues. After each class, I can’t believe how good I feel regardless of how stiff or sore I was at the beginning. It also makes me feel hopeful and motivated to continue to improve how my body feels and works. Karen is a conscientious, knowledgeable instructor who has a sound understanding of body mechanics, proper body function and the yoga exercises that will enhance, strengthen and awaken your body. I leave each class feeling peaceful, relaxed and my body feels better far better…..Melanie
